Wicked blog hop Oct 29

Welcome to my blog and let me tell you, it is a wicked blog post in more ways than one, or at least it felt like one.  I want to thank why-knot-kwilt and sew we quilt for organzing such a fun and wicked hop.

I thought of this pattern from last year when I was participating in the Fresh & Funky quilting bee.  House of a la mode was responsible for the month of July and offered her spider web quilt block tutorial for us to try.  I couldn't believe how easy and fun it was. Here is my version with the wicked material I picked up.  I hope you like it.

So, getting back to why I feel this is a wicked post.

1. We just had our 3 granddaughters, age 4, 2 or 7 months over for the weekend. Yes, that 3 girls under the age of 5.  overnight!!!! LOL

2. Poppa and I helped my daughter with a swimming birthday party today for our oldest granddaughter.  She will be 5 next week.

3. I started and finished this block tonight. Yes that's right, I left it to THE very last minute to complete, even though I had week's to do it. Here are my strips ready to put together.

a quarter of the blocks completed

the back...oh, i noticed some witch's brew got in the picture..heheheheh

ohhh...i think my block is being wicked and hiding under the left over strips.

I see you!!!

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Why did the chicken cross the road? To leaf the other side LOL

October 10th is my day to show you my entry into the "Leafs Me Happy" blog hop, hosted by Cherry from Cherry Blossom Quilting Studio Fall is my FAVORITE season of the year! Here in Nova Scotia we have beautiful fall colors on all of the trees and a lot of farms that are selling their abundant harvests; pumpkins, squash, apples, gourds etc.

When I heard about this blog hop I knew I wanted to use only what I had on hand. And the first thing that came to mind was using my paper pieced chicken block.  I love that the chicken's body uses a corn pattern.  Great for a fall harvest block.  I found the pattern awhile ago on Quilters Cache.  They have A LOT of great patterns. So I added a few leaf patterned material to make it 12x12.  See how great it looks on my fall mantel. It was a beautiful sunny day :)

After I made the block I decided I wanted to make a couple of "fall" mug rugs.  A couple of years ago I made a bargello quilt top (that is still not finished) and I had cut off the extra material.  I used this pieced material to make my rugs with scrap polar fleece as the batting and a gorgeous eggplant color for the back and binding.  What do you think?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog post :) SHOW SOME LOVE :)
Happy Fall!!!

BTW: Below are the other blog hoppers posting on the last day of "Leafs Me Happy" blog hop!!! Thank you's to Cherry Blossom for getting me out of my sewing rut!!!!
